Last updated: 27 August 2026. Plain-language terms for a free browser game with no account, no purchases and no server-side data. By playing BraaiVille or visiting this site, you agree to the following.
What BraaiVille is
BraaiVille is a free, browser-based city-building game, made by Fresh Twig (Brett G. Mowat). It runs entirely on your device — there is no account, no login and no server tracking your progress. Your city is saved in your own browser's local storage, and you can export it to a file if you want a backup or want to move it to another device.
You may
- Play BraaiVille, for free, for as long as you like.
- Share a link to braaiville.com anywhere you like.
- Export, keep, back up and share your own save files.
- Take and share screenshots or recordings of your own city, including for streaming, reviews or social media.
You may not
- Copy, re-host, rebrand or redistribute the game, its code, artwork or music, in whole or in part, as your own.
- Sell the game, or any copy or derivative of it.
- Decompile, reverse-engineer or scrape the game's assets for reuse elsewhere, beyond what your browser does to run it.
- Use the game to distribute malware, or interfere with how it or the advertising on it is served.
If you want to use part of BraaiVille for something — a mod, a school project, a write-up — ask first at suggestions@braaiville.com. Permission is often given when asked for directly. Full detail is in the About page's Copyright section.
Advertising
BraaiVille is free because it carries advertising, supplied by Google AdSense. Ads do not affect gameplay — there's no paywall, no advert between turns, and nothing withheld from you. AdSense sets its own cookies and may show personalised ads depending on your settings; see the Privacy Policy for what that involves and how to opt out.
No warranty
BraaiVille is provided "as is," with no guarantee that it will be error-free, available at any given time, or fit for any particular purpose. It is a hobby project, not a commercial product with an SLA. Bug reports are welcome and generally acted on, but there's no guaranteed turnaround.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Fresh Twig is not liable for any loss arising from your use of BraaiVille — including the loss of a saved city, since saves live only in your own browser's storage and are not backed up anywhere else. Export a save file if you want a copy that survives clearing your browser data.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated as the game changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continuing to use BraaiVille after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.
